AMSTERDAM, July 14, 2022 — 2018 MLS Cup Champions Atlanta United FC and Team Gullit, the world’s first FIFA academy, announced their esports partnership today. Team Gullit will be responsible for the development and coaching of the Atlanta United FIFA players. Both teams have already worked together unofficially for the past two seasons.
With the partnership, Atlanta United again shows its commitment to FIFA esports. The American team signed Brazilian player Paulo Neto roughly two years ago and added Vini Leiva to their roster one year ago when EA announced their competitive 2V2 structure. To get the most out of the two players, Atlanta United started working with Team Gullit, one of the most successful FIFA esports teams in recent years. The FIFA academy is known for its unique development model, winning multiple FUT Champions Cups and European championships with homegrown talent.
‘’We are excited to partner with Atlanta United FC, ‘’ said Renzo Oemrawsingh, Head of Development for Team Gullit. ‘’We have been working together for almost two seasons now, and with great success, winning the eMLS Cup and qualifying for the FIFAe World Cup 2022. It’s time to take the co-operation to the next level now. We officially kick off the partnership by coaching Paulo Neto at the FIFAe World Cup, which takes place this weekend.’’
“We’re excited for our evolving esports team to officially partner with Team Gullit, a globally recognized professional FIFA academy, “Atlanta United Vice President of Business Operations Georgia O’Donoghue said. “As one of the most successful teams in the FIFA Global Series, Team Gullit will continue to provide our players with some of the most comprehensive coaching in the esports industry, helping us to remain as one of the top eFIFA teams in MLS.”
