The EA FC 25 meta is constantly evolving, and keeping up with it can be the difference between victory and defeat. Want to dominate the pitch like the best players in the world? Then understanding the EA FC 25 meta is essential—whether it’s formations, tactics, or the most overpowered players in the game.
It’s not just about having a strong squad; you need to know what works best in the current gameplay environment. From broken skill moves to the most effective shooting techniques, the meta dictates how the game is played at the highest level. EA FC 25 January Meta Update
EA FC 25 Finesse and Long Ball
You thought this was patched? We did, too, but that's not the case. Players with the Finesse PlayStyle+ can still pull the Finesse Long Ball off. Timed green? Pretty much a guaranteed goal, but even when you miss time it still flies in more often than not. The same can be said for over-the-top Long Balls. Yes, it's a bit weaker, but it still works well. Players like Savanier still perform these passes well, and they are still as effective as before.
All in all, we recommend continuing to use both the finesse and long ball. They are both still incredibly powerful in January and most likely onwards. But keep an eye out for our next update.
EA FC 25 PlayStyles
Combining PlayStyles is a new thing, especially with two PlayStyle+'s. Let's take Vitinha as an example. He has Technical+ and Pinged Pass+. With R1, you can do technical dribbling; with R1 + X, you can do the pinged pass, meaning in combination, you can do the pinged pass while doing the technical dribble. It's an absolutely deadly combination. There will be more players with two golden PlayStyles, and this will be one of the meta-defining characteristics of the game moving forward.
EA FC 25 4-2-1-3
We know many of you hate this EA FC 25 formation, but given how powerful it is, we cannot ignore it. It's incredibly hard to face this formation because it capitalizes on mistakes. One little mistake can mean your opponent will score, often creating a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 situation in and around the box. Does your opponent have their wingbacks over-extended? Easy counter, pass the ball to one of your wingers, and you'll often find yourself in a 1-on-1 with their goalie.
EA FC 25 Incisive Pass
This is one of the strongest passes in the game. In fact, our player Levi requires all of his midfielders to have the PlayStyle on grey (atleast). The trick is to wait for your attackers (or anyone else really) to start running and passing your opponent. If you time it right, just with a simple X pass, you can create 1-on-1's very easily.
EA FC 25 Overlapping Fullbacks
This is something we just generally recommend: have overlapping Fullbacks. This creates your 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 situations that will make it easy for you to score your goals. Yes overlapping Fullbacks will also create risks, as discussed earlier with the 4-2-1-3 formation. However, no risk, no reward right?
EA Sports FC 25
EA Sports FC 25 is the newest game from developer EA, and the second one bearing the new name after EA and FIFA could not come to an agreement. We do not expect the game to change fundamentally, but obviously, this will change in terms of support and how you would go about searching. Overall, we recommend checking our overview of EA FC 25 Rush Mode, the best EA FC 25 formations and how to score more goals in EA FC 25.
