The EA FC 25 tactics and meta constantly evolve, and keeping up with them can be the difference between victory and defeat. Want to dominate the pitch like the best players in the world? Then understanding the EA FC 25 meta is essential—whether it’s formations, tactics, or the most overpowered players in the game.
It’s not just about having a strong squad; you must know what works best in the current gameplay environment. From broken skill moves to the most effective shooting techniques, the meta dictates how the game is played at the highest level. But what exactly is the EA FC 25 meta, and how can you use it? Let’s break it down.

EA FC 25 March Tactics & Meta Update
Low Driven PlayStyle in EA FC 25
Players thought this was going to be overpowered, but we disagree. We believe it is powerful, but not a must-have. There are several spots where the Low Driven shot shines, and you cannot score with any other shot. Players like Kane, Dalglish, and Adeyemi have the Low Driven PlayStyle and can be a great asset in any EA FC 25 team. We feel this will be a meta-defining style, and we recommend you pick it up.
EA FC 25 Corners
There are three different ways to score corners. The first one is called the 'first post corner', which requires both a left-footed and right-footed player with the Dead Ball PlayStyle on white. The left-footed player will take corners on the right side and vice versa. This allows you to curl the ball perfectly. Next, you need a player with the Aerial PlayStyle, preferably in gold. When you take the corner, tap L1 (LB Xbox) twice to select the player, give your shots three bars of power and voila, almost a guaranteed goal.
The second is the Bicycle kick corner. Again, you need players who can curl the ball. Aim for three to three and a half bars of power. Then press L2 (LB on Xbox) and Circle (B on Xbox) to perform the Bicycle kick and score. The third one is the short corner player lock. You call a player to come close by R1 (RB on Xbox), then press L3 and R3 simultaneously to get the player lock. Let that player shoot towards the first post and head the ball with your Aerial player. Don't forget to celebrate afterwards.
First-time through balls in EA FC 25
Firstly, you need midfielders with Incisive Pass and Tiki Taka, which we feel are the most critical Playstyles in the middle of the pitch. You perform these passes over the ground with the Square button (Y on Xbox). We feel like this doesn't need much explanation, but try it. You won't be disappointed.
EA FC 25 February Tactics & Meta Update
EA FC 25 first-time Triangle Pass & R1 Square Passes
One of the main things this month is the Triangle (Y on Xbox) Passes that every pro uses. So how do you execute it? Play the ball to one of your attackers or a midfielder. After that, you want to trigger a close player (point at him with the left stick, then click L1 (LB on Xbox), making them run forward. In the past, you would play the Triangle Pass through the air, but now we do it over the ground, which is even better.
The R1 (RB Xbox) Square (X on Xbox) Passes are meant to be your over-the-field crosses. From your right winger to your left winger, for example. This pass is insanely strong, putting you into a scoring position from virtually anywhere on the pitch—even your goalkeeper.
EA FC 25 Bicycle Kick Corner
First of all, you need a player with the Acrobatic PlayStyle on gold or silver; this is a mandatory requirement. Then you go to assignments and put the player with acrobatics as the target player. Then you need a left-footed player for a corner kick on the right side, and vice versa. This is to curl the ball in. Then, you need to power your shot between three and three and a half bars. Then hold L2 (LT on Xbox) while holding the Circle (B on Xbox) button, and you'll score the goal. It doesn't sound very easy, but it isn't. We recommend that you all try it!
EA FC 25 Tiki Taka
This is a short one: if you have players with the Tiki Taka PlayStyle, use them! First-touch passing is pretty undefendable, meaning you'll cut through the defense with no issues, like a hot knife through butter.
EA FC 25 January Tactics & Meta Update
EA FC 25 Finesse and Long Ball
You thought this was patched? We did, too, but that's not the case. Players with the Finesse PlayStyle+ can still pull the Finesse Long Ball off. Timed green? Pretty much a guaranteed goal, but even when you miss time, it still flies in more often than not. The same can be said for over-the-top Long Balls. Yes, it's a bit weaker, but it still works well. Players like Savanier still perform these passes well and are still as effective as before.
All in all, we recommend continuing to use both the finesse and long ball. They are both still incredibly powerful in January and, most likely, beyond. But keep an eye out for our next update.
EA FC 25 PlayStyles
Combining PlayStyles is a new thing, especially with two PlayStyle+'s. Let's take Vitinha as an example. He has Technical+ and Pinged Pass+. With R1, you can do technical dribbling; with R1 + X, you can do the pinged pass, meaning in combination, you can do the pinged pass while doing the technical dribble. It's an deadly combination. There will be more players with two golden PlayStyles, which will be one of the meta-defining characteristics of the game moving forward.
EA FC 25 4-2-1-3
We know many of you hate this EA FC 25 formation, but given its power, we cannot ignore it. It's incredibly hard to face this formation because it capitalizes on mistakes. One little mistake can mean your opponent will score, often creating a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 situation in and around the box. Does your opponent have their wingbacks over-extended? Easy counter, pass the ball to one of your wingers, and you'll often find yourself in a 1-on-1 with their goalie.
EA FC 25 Incisive Pass
This is one of the strongest passes in the game. In fact, our player Levi requires all of his midfielders to have the PlayStyle on grey (atleast). The trick is to wait for your attackers (or anyone else really) to start running and passing your opponent. If you time it right, just with a simple X pass, you can create 1-on-1's very easily.
EA FC 25 Overlapping Fullbacks
We just generally recommend having overlapping Fullbacks. This creates 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 situations that will make it easy for you to score your goals. Yes, overlapping Fullbacks will also create risks, as discussed earlier with the 4-2-1-3 formation. However, no risk, no reward, right?
EA Sports FC 25
EA Sports FC 25 is the newest game from developer EA. The game has not changed fundamentally, but it is still different enough compared to previous iterations. Overall, we recommend checking the best EA FC 25 Formations, EA FC 25 defending, and, of course, how to score more goals in EA FC 25.
